Terms of Service

These terms govern SQLAnvil Cloud, the hosted service at app.sqlanvil.com, operated by Ivan Histand (“SQLAnvil”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or signing in, you agree to them. If you are using SQLAnvil Cloud on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization.

The open-source SQLAnvil engine is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and is not governed by these terms — only the hosted service is.

1. The service

SQLAnvil Cloud is a control plane for SQL workflow projects: it connects to a GitHub repository you designate, runs your project's workflow against your own data warehouse (for example on pull requests or a schedule), and shows you the results. Your warehouse compute and storage remain on your own accounts and bills.

2. Your account

You sign in with a third-party identity provider (currently GitHub). You are responsible for the security of that account and for everything done through yours. You must have the right to connect the repositories, databases, and services you connect.

3. Your code and data

You own your repositories, your SQL, your warehouse, and your data. You grant us only the limited rights needed to provide the service: to fetch and compile your project, execute it against the warehouse you connect, and store run results so we can show them to you. What we store, for how long, and what we never store is described plainly in Data handling, which is part of these terms. We never sell your data.

4. Credentials

SQLAnvil Cloud is built on a zero-credential-custody model: we do not ask for and do not store your database password. Where a provider supports it, you authorize access via OAuth and we store only an encrypted, revocable token. You can revoke that authorization at any time, which immediately ends our ability to run against your warehouse.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service to violate any law or third-party right;
• use runners for anything other than running your SQL project (e.g. mining, proxying, or load-testing third parties);
• probe, disable, or circumvent the service's security or usage limits, or access another customer's data;
• resell or offer the service to third parties as a service without our written consent.

6. Fees

SQLAnvil Cloud is currently offered without charge while in early access. We may introduce paid plans; if we do, prices will be published before you are asked to pay, and we will not charge you without your explicit agreement to a paid plan.

7. Third-party services

The service interoperates with services you hold accounts with — such as GitHub, Supabase, and Google Cloud — and is hosted on infrastructure providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms; we are not responsible for them.

8. Availability and changes

SQLAnvil Cloud is an early-stage service, provided without an uptime commitment. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. Support is self-service through the documentation; there is no support desk or response-time commitment.

9. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time; deleting a project removes its runs, and you can request full account deletion (see Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk for the service or other customers. On termination, sections that by their nature should survive (3, 10, 11, 12) survive.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You are responsible for your warehouse, your data, and reviewing what your workflows do — including workflows authored by AI agents.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, revenues, or data. Our total liability for all claims arising out of the service is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make material changes we will post the updated terms here and update the date above; for significant changes affecting active accounts we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the dashboard. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
